Cough

In Cough Belcof Syrup gives relief from cough by loosening thick mucus and making it easier to cough it out. It also makes it easier for air to move in and out of your airways. This reduces the frequency of coughing and makes you feel better. Belcof Syrup also relieves allergy symptoms like watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose or throat irritation. Along with medications, drink enough lukewarm water and gargle with warm salt water to ease the symptoms.

The majority of side effects typically do not necessitate medical intervention. and disappear as your body adjusts to the medicine. Belcof Syrup is a combination of four medicines: Ammonium Chloride, Sodium Citrate, Diphenhydramine and Menthol which relieve cough. Ammonium chloride is an expectorant which works by decreasing the stickiness of airway secretions and helps in their removal from the airways. Sodium citrate is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Diphenhydramine is an antiallergic which relieves allergy symptoms like runny nose, watery eyes and sneezing. Menthol is an organic compound which produces a sensation of coolness and relieves minor throat irritation.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Belcof Syrup as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Not Safe: Belcof Syrup is highly unsafe to use during pregnancy. Seek your doctor's advice as studies on pregnant women and animals have shown significant harmful effects to the developing baby.

Breast feeding

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Information regarding the use of Belcof Syrup during breastfeeding is not available. Doctor consultation is advised.

Driving

Not Safe: Belcof Syrup may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

Not Safe: Belcof Syrup is probably unsafe to use in patients with kidney disease and should be avoided. Doctor consultation is advised.

Liver

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Belcof Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with liver disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Belcof Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Belcof Syrup is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Belcof Syrup is prescribed to get relief from cough. Drink warm water to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. Use a proper measuring cup or spoon to measure the dosage. In general, most coughs do not last more than 2 weeks. If your cough does last longer than this then, it's better to see your doctor. Inform your docotor if you have or have ever had a breathing problem such as asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis.
