Floasin 10mg Tablet contains alfuzosin, an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker primarily used to treat the symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in adult men. BPH is a condition in which the prostate gland enlarges, causing difficulty with urination, weak stream, urgency, and incomplete bladder emptying.

Alfuzosin works by relaxing the smooth muscles of the prostate and bladder neck, which helps improve urine flow and reduce urinary symptoms. Unlike medications that shrink the prostate, alfuzosin does not reduce prostate size, but it can make urination easier and improve quality of life.

This medication is taken orally, usually once daily, and is recommended to be taken after the same meal each day to ensure consistent absorption. Alfuzosin is intended for long-term symptom management rather than a cure for BPH, and regular follow-up with a healthcare provider is advised.

This medicine is used to treat:

• Signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) in men with an enlarged prostate.

• Improved Urine Flow: Relaxes smooth muscle tissue to create a stronger, more consistent stream of urine.

Floasin 10mg Tablet may cause side effects in some people. Most are mild and temporary, but contact your doctor if they persist, worsen, or are concerning.

Common Side Effects:

• Dizziness or light-headedness, especially when standing up quickly (orthostatic hypotension)

• Fatigue or feeling tired

• Headache

• Nasal congestion

• Gastrointestinal upset (nausea, stomach discomfort)

Uncommon Side Effects:

• Palpitations or irregular heartbeat

• Swelling of hands, feet, or ankles

• Sexual side effects such as decreased libido or ejaculation changes

Serious Side Effects (Require Immediate Medical Attention):

• Severe dizziness, fainting, or sudden drop in blood pressure

• Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing

• Chest pain (angina) or a worsening of pre-existing chest pain

• A painful or prolonged erection lasting 4 hours or longer (priapism)

Take Floasin 10mg Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.

• Take this medicine once a day, immediately after the same meal each day. Taking it with food increases the absorption of the drug.

• Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break an extended-release tablet, as doing so can release all of the drug at once, increasing the risk of side effects.

• Your blood pressure may need to be checked often.

Alfuzosin works by selectively blocking alpha-1 adrenergic receptors in the lower urinary tract. By inhibiting these receptors, it prompts the smooth muscle in the bladder neck and prostate to relax. This reduction in muscle tone decreases resistance to urine flow, effectively alleviating the obstructive and irritative symptoms of BPH.

• To avoid dizziness or fainting, get up slowly from a sitting or lying position.

• Take this medicine immediately after the same meal every day (such as dinner) to maintain consistent levels of the drug in your bloodstream.

• If you are scheduled to have cataract surgery, tell your eye doctor that you are taking or have previously taken alfuzosin, as it can cause a complication called Intraoperative Floppy Iris Syndrome (IFIS).

Store at room temperature away from moisture, light, and heat. Keep out of reach of children.

• Food: Taking alfuzosin on an empty stomach significantly reduces its absorption. It must be taken immediately after a meal.
• Alcohol: Can increase the blood-pressure-lowering effects of alfuzosin, leading to severe dizziness or fainting.

Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any you start or stop using, especially:

• Potent CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, or ritonavir), which can significantly increase alfuzosin blood levels.

• Other alpha-blockers (such as tamsulosin or doxazosin).

• Medications used to treat erectile dysfunction (such as sildenafil or tadalafil), which can increase the risk of low blood pressure.

• Blood pressure medications.

This medicine should be used with caution, or avoided, if you have:

• Moderate or severe liver disease

• Severe kidney disease

• A history of QT prolongation

• Severe coronary artery disease or active angina

The recommended dosage is one 10 mg tablet daily, to be taken orally immediately after the same meal each day. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Seek emergency medical attention or call the Poison Help line immediately. Symptoms of an alfuzosin overdose may include severe low blood pressure and dizziness or fainting.

Take the missed dose with a meal as soon as you remember. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. Do not take double doses.
