Hepexa M Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Metformin and ursodeoxycholic acid which treat fatty liver with diabetes. Metformin is a biguanide which works by decreasing the production of glucose in the liver, increasing insulin sensitivity, and improving liver blood flow. Ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) is a naturally occurring bile acid which protects the liver cells from toxins and helps the liver to perform its normal functions.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Hepexa M Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Hepexa M Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.

Breast feeding

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Hepexa M Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving

Caution Advised: Your ability to drive may be affected if your blood sugar is too low or too high. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.

Kidney

Caution Advised: Hepexa M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Hepexa M Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Hepexa M Tablet is, however, not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease. Regular monitoring of kidney function test is advisable while you are taking this medicine.

Liver

Caution Advised: Hepexa M Tablet should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Hepexa M Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Hepexa M Tablet is generally started with low dose in patients with mild to moderate liver disease and its use is not recommended in patients with severe liver disease.

If a dose of Hepexa M Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
