Nosardi Plus Syrup is a multi-component prescription medication formulated to relieve respiratory symptoms associated with cough, congestion, and mucus accumulation. It combines Ambroxol, a mucolytic that breaks down thick mucus; Chlorpheniramine Maleate, an antihistamine that alleviates allergy symptoms; Guaifenesin, an expectorant that facilitates mucus clearance; Menthol, which provides a soothing, cooling effect; and Phenylephrine, a nasal decongestant that reduces swelling in the nasal passages. This combination addresses multiple mechanisms underlying cough and congestion, making it highly effective for symptomatic relief in upper respiratory tract infections, allergic rhinitis, and bronchitis.
Nosardi Plus Syrup is a synergistic combination therapy designed for rapid relief from cough, congestion, and associated symptoms caused by respiratory illnesses.
Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent that stimulates the production of serous mucus in the respiratory tract, thinning thick and viscous secretions. This action facilitates easier expectoration and clearance of mucus from the airways, improving ventilation and reducing cough reflex irritation. Ambroxol also exhibits local anaesthetic effects on the respiratory mucosa, which can reduce cough severity.
Chlorpheniramine Maleate is a first-generation antihistamine that blocks H1 receptors, preventing histamine-mediated symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, and nasal congestion. Its sedative properties also help improve rest and sleep disturbed by persistent coughing or allergic reactions.
Guaifenesin is an expectorant that increases the hydration of respiratory secretions, reducing their viscosity and facilitating their removal from the lungs and bronchi. Promoting effective mucus clearance helps reduce chest congestion and cough frequency.
Menthol is a topical and systemic agent that activates cold-sensitive receptors, producing a cooling sensation and soothing throat irritation. It also contributes mild bronchodilator and analgesic effects, helping patients breathe easier and reducing the discomfort of throat irritation.
Phenylephrine is a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist that constricts blood vessels in the nasal mucosa, thereby reducing swelling and congestion. It provides symptomatic relief for a blocked nose caused by colds or allergic rhinitis.
This combination is particularly effective when multiple respiratory symptoms coexist, offering a multi-targeted approach that alleviates cough, clears mucus, reduces nasal congestion, and relieves histamine-mediated allergic reactions. The components are well absorbed orally, metabolised by liver enzymes, and excreted mainly through the urine, ensuring therapeutic effectiveness while maintaining a favourable safety profile.
Relief of cough, chest congestion, and mucus accumulation in conditions such as common cold, acute bronchitis, and viral respiratory infections.
Reduces sneezing, nasal congestion, itching, and watery eyes caused by seasonal or perennial allergies.
Helps thin thick mucus, making expectoration easier for patients with chronic respiratory conditions.
Phenylephrine relieves blocked nasal passages in sinusitis.
Ambroxol and Guaifenesin facilitate the removal of mucus in wet coughs, while Menthol soothes the throat.
Nosardi Plus Syrup is generally well-tolerated. Side effects are mostly mild and temporary, but can occasionally be more serious.
Use only if clearly necessary. Some components, like Phenylephrine, are not recommended during pregnancy without medical supervision.
Chlorpheniramine and Phenylephrine may pass into breast milk. Use only under medical guidance.
Chlorpheniramine may cause drowsiness. Avoid driving if affected.
Ambroxol and Chlorpheniramine are metabolised in the liver. Dose adjustment may be required in hepatic impairment.
Ambroxol and Phenylephrine are partially renally excreted. Dose adjustment may be required in renal impairment.
Alcohol may enhance drowsiness caused by Chlorpheniramine.
