Novefos Tablet belongs to a group of medicines known as antibiotics. It works by killing bacteria, which can cause infections. This medicine is used to treat or prevent infections of the urinary tract. It helps to improve your symptoms and cure the infection. Novefos Tablet should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably before bedtime, after emptying the bladder. You should take it regularly at evenly spaced intervals as per the schedule prescribed by your doctor. The dose will depend on what you are being treated for, but you should always complete a full course of this antibiotic as prescribed by your doctor. Do not stop taking it until you have finished, even when you feel better. If you stop taking it early, some bacteria may survive and the infection may come back. The most common side effects of this medicine include headache, dizziness, vaginal inflammation and indigestion. Consult your doctor if your condition does not improve even after two to three days or if these side effects bother or worry you. Before using it, you should tell your doctor if you are allergic to any antibiotics or have any kidney or liver problems. Pregnancy
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Novefos Tablet is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Breast feeding
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Novefos Tablet is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.
Driving
Not Safe: Novefos Tablet may decrease alertness, affect your vision or make you feel sleepy and dizzy. Do not drive if these symptoms occur.
Kidney
Caution Advised: Novefos Tablet should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Novefos Tablet may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised. Use of Novefos Tablet is not recommended in patients with severe kidney disease.
Liver
Seek medical advice from your doctor: There is limited information available on the use of Novefos Tablet in patients with liver disease. Doctor consultation is advised.
