Common side effects of Aztreonam include rash, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, and injection site reactions such as pain, swelling, and redness.

  • You have been prescribed Aztreonam for the treatment of bacterial infections.
  • It is administered via injection or infusion into a vein or into a muscle in the buttock or thigh.
  • Complete the prescribed course, even if you begin to feel better.
  • Stopping the medication early may cause the infection to return and become more difficult to treat.
  • Diarrhea may occur as a side effect but should resolve once your course is finished.
  • Inform your doctor if diarrhea persists or if you notice blood in your stools.
  • Contact your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat, or tongue, or experience breathing difficulties while taking this medication.
  • Notify your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to conceive, or breastfeeding.
