Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate is a pain-relief medicine that you rub on the skin over the painful area. It is sold in India as an ointment or gel. It mixes five ingredients that act on pain in different ways. Capsaicin comes from chili peppers. Gabapentin is a nerve-pain medicine. Ketoprofen is an anti-inflammatory painkiller (an NSAID). Lignocaine, also called Lidocaine, is a numbing medicine. Methyl salicylate, also known as oil of wintergreen, is used in deep-heating rubs. Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate is meant for local pain, such as nerve pain or aching muscles and joints, and should be used as your doctor advises.
Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate brings together five medicines that have each been used on the skin for pain. The idea is to work on pain at the spot where it is felt, instead of sending a tablet through the whole body.
Each part has its own job. Ketoprofen is an NSAID. It blocks an enzyme called cyclo-oxygenase, which the body uses to make prostaglandins, chemical messengers that drive swelling and pain. Ketoprofen applied to the skin is used for sprains, bruising, tendon inflammation, small-joint arthritis and sudden low-back pain.
Capsaicin first causes a burning feeling. With repeated use, it wears down the nerve endings' ability to send pain signals. Lignocaine numbs the area by calming nerve membranes so they pass on fewer signals. Gabapentin, when taken by mouth, eases nerve pain by changing the way the body senses pain. Gel forms of gabapentin have been studied for nerve pain from diabetes, though the research so far is small. Methyl salicylate belongs to the salicylate family, the same family as aspirin. This is why labels warn people with aspirin allergy.
Some cautions need medical supervision. Ketoprofen on the skin can cause photoallergy, a skin reaction triggered by sunlight. For this reason, European regulators made topical ketoprofen prescription-only. Methyl salicylate can be absorbed through the skin. In reported cases, heavy use raised the blood-thinning effect of warfarin and led to bruising and bleeding. Swallowing products with methyl salicylate can cause serious poisoning.
Because Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate contains several active medicines, use it only on the area your doctor names, for the time your doctor sets. Tell your doctor about any other pain gels, patches or blood thinners you use.
Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate is a fixed-dose combination (several medicines in set amounts in one product) for use on the skin only. It is available as an ointment or gel and contains:

Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate works on pain in five ways at the same spot:
Do not use in the last three months of pregnancy (third trimester). Earlier in pregnancy, avoid it unless your doctor specifically advises it. A UK ketoprofen gel label says ketoprofen must not be used in the third trimester, and should not be used in the first six months of pregnancy unless clearly necessary. One label for a methyl salicylate and capsaicin cream says not to use it during pregnancy.
Not recommended while breastfeeding. A UK ketoprofen gel label says ketoprofen is not recommended for nursing mothers, and that there is no data on whether ketoprofen passes into breast milk. Speak to your doctor, who may suggest another option. If your doctor still advises it, apply it to the smallest area needed and keep your baby's skin from touching the treated area.
Speak to your doctor. Alcohol can add to the drowsiness that gabapentin taken by mouth can cause.
Gabapentin taken by mouth can cause drowsiness or dizziness. Gabapentin gel caused few such effects in a small study, but do not drive if you feel drowsy or dizzy after using Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate.
Use with caution. NSAIDs may not be suitable for people with a kidney condition, and people with kidney disease should tell their doctor before using gabapentin.
Use with caution. NSAIDs may not be suitable for people with a liver condition. Talk to your doctor first.
Not for children under 12 years unless a doctor advises it. Labels for methyl salicylate rubs say not to use them on children under 12, or to ask a doctor.
Use the smallest amount that helps. Tell your doctor about all your medicines, especially warfarin, because methyl salicylate rubbed on the skin has raised warfarin's blood-thinning effect in reported cases.
Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate is applied to the skin, so meals do not change how it works.
Do not use Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate if you have had:
Take care, and tell your doctor first, if you have:
Use Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate exactly as your doctor prescribes. The amount and number of applications depend on the area being treated and your condition.
For comparison, US labels for methyl salicylate rubs state that adults and children over 12 should apply a thin layer no more than 3 to 4 times a day. A UK label for a ketoprofen gel states that it is applied two or three times a day, and that use should not go beyond 10 days. Because Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate contains ketoprofen, the stricter ketoprofen gel limits (two or three times a day, for no more than 10 days) are the safer guide unless your doctor tells you otherwise. Your doctor may advise a different schedule for Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate. Do not use more, more often or over a larger area than prescribed.
Overdose is most likely if the product is swallowed, or if too much is used over a large area or too often.
Signs of methyl salicylate poisoning include:
Too much lignocaine in the blood can cause dizziness, shaking, fits, slow heartbeat and low blood pressure.
If someone has swallowed Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate or has these signs, go to the nearest hospital emergency department straight away. Do not make the person vomit unless a doctor tells you to. Take the tube with you.
If you use Capsaicin + Gabapentin + Ketoprofen + Lidocaine Hydrochloride + Methyl Salicylate only when you have pain, there is no set schedule to miss. If your doctor asked you to use it regularly, apply it when you remember. If it is almost time for your next application, skip the missed one and carry on as usual. Do not apply extra to make up for a missed one.
