Enalapril is used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), the prevention of heart attack and stroke, and heart failure.

How Enalapril works Enalapril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It functions by reducing stress on the heart and relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more smoothly and enabling the heart to pump blood more efficiently.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Enalapril include cough, dizziness, fatigue, hypotension (low blood pressure), and headache.

It should be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Enalapril may cause dizziness during the first few days; rise slowly if you have been sitting or lying down.
