How Gentamicin + Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose works Gentamicin + Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a combination of two medicines: Gentamicin and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose. Gentamicin is an antibiotic that kills bacteria by inhibiting the synthesis of essential proteins required for bacterial vital functions. Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose is a lubricant similar to natural tears, providing temporary relief from burning and discomfort due to dryness in the eye.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Gentamicin and Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose include eye redness, irritation, pain, blurred vision, and a foreign body sensation in the eyes.

Your doctor has prescribed Gentamicin + Hydroxypropylmethylcellulose to treat your infection and alleviate symptoms.

Avoid touching the tip of the medication to any surface or to your eye/ear to prevent contamination.

Wait at least 5-10 minutes before administering the next medication in the same eye to avoid dilution.
Do not wear contact lenses while using this medication.
Be aware that it may cause short-term blurring of vision upon initial use.
Exercise caution when driving or operating machinery.
