Sertaconazole is a topical antifungal medicine containing sertaconazole. • Clean and thoroughly dry the affected area and the surrounding skin before application.

• Apply a thin layer of Sertaconazole to the affected area and approximately one inch of the surrounding healthy skin.

• Typically, the medication is applied twice daily for a period of 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the severity and type of infection.

• Wash your hands immediately after application to prevent spreading the infection to other parts of your body or other people.

• Do not cover the treated area with an occlusive dressing (like plastic wrap) unless specifically instructed by your doctor, as this may increase skin irritation.

Sertaconazole works primarily by interfering with the fungal enzyme lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase. This enzyme is responsible for converting lanosterol into ergosterol. Ergosterol is an essential component of the fungal cell membrane, much like cholesterol is in human cells. When ergosterol synthesis is blocked, the fungal cell membrane becomes "leaky" and unstable. This leads to the loss of essential intracellular components and prevents the fungus from growing and replicating. Additionally, Sertaconazole may directly damage the fungal cell wall at higher concentrations, leading to the death of the fungal cell.

• Continue using the medication for the full time prescribed, even if your symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping too early can lead to the infection returning.

• Keep the affected area as dry as possible, as fungi thrive in warm, moist environments.

• Wear loose-fitting cotton clothing and change socks or underwear daily if those areas are affected.

• Avoid getting the medication in your eyes, nose, or mouth. If contact occurs, rinse thoroughly with water.

• If the treated skin condition worsens or does not improve within two weeks, contact your healthcare provider.

• Store Sertaconazole at room temperature (between 20°C and 25°C).

• Keep the container tightly closed when not in use.
