Cough

In Cough Ariwa Syrup gives relief from cough due to allergy by loosening thick mucus and making it easier to cough it out. This reduces the frequency of coughing and makes you feel better. It also reduces substances that cause allergy and thus relieves symptoms like watery eyes, sneezing, runny nose and throat irritation. Along with medications, drink enough lukewarm water and gargle with warm salt water to ease the symptoms.

Ariwa Syrup is a combination of five medicines: Cetirizine, Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide, Menthol, Ammonium Chloride and Zinc Gluconate. Cetirizine is an antiallergic which reduces cough associated with allergies by blocking the effects of a chemical messenger (histamine). Dextromethorphan Hydrobromide is a cough suppressant that relieves cough by reducing the activity of cough centre in the brain. Menthol produces a sensation of coolness and relieves minor throat irritation. Ammonium Chloride is an expectorant which helps remove mucus (phlegm) from the airways. Zinc Gluconate releases zinc ions into the throat. These ions prevent the cold virus from reproducing due to which the virus dies off faster and the cold ends sooner.

Alcohol

Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Ariwa Syrup as it is deemed unsafe.

Pregnancy

Seek medical advice from your doctor: Ariwa Syrup may be unsafe to use during pregnancy. Although there are limited studies in humans, animal studies have shown harmful effects on the developing baby. Your doctor will weigh the benefits and any potential risks before prescribing it to you. Doctor consultation is advised.

Breast feeding

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Ariwa Syrup is probably safe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug does not represent any significant risk to the baby.

Driving

Not Safe: Ariwa Syrup may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive.

Kidney

Safe when prescribed by an expert: Ariwa Syrup is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Ariwa Syrup may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.

Liver

Not Safe: Ariwa Syrup is probably unsafe to use in patients with liver disease and should be avoided. Doctor consultation is advised.

If a dose of Ariwa Syrup is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.

Store in a cool and dry place, and keep the temperature below 30�C

Ariwa Syrup is prescribed to get relief from cough. Drink warm water to help loosen the congestion and lubricate your throat while you are taking this medication. Take exactly as directed by your doctor or on the label. Do not increase the dosage or take for longer than is recommended. In general, most coughs do not last more than 2 weeks. If your cough does last longer than this then, it's better to see your doctor. Inform your doctor if you have or have ever had a breathing problem such as asthma, emphysema, or chronic bronchitis. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medications, e.g., anti-depressants.
