Asthaphat Expectorant can interact with medicines affecting heart rhythm, potassium levels, or respiratory response.

• Beta-Blockers (High): May reduce the bronchodilator effectiveness of Salbutamol and may trigger bronchospasm in susceptible patients.

• Diuretics (Moderate): Concurrent use may increase potassium loss and raise the risk of low potassium levels (hypokalaemia).

• Steroids (Moderate): Combined use with Salbutamol may further increase the risk of hypokalaemia (low potassium levels in the blood)

• MAO Inhibitors / Tricyclic Antidepressants (Moderate): May enhance the cardiovascular effects of Salbutamol, such as palpitations or rapid heartbeat.

• Hyperthyroidism: Salbutamol may enhance symptoms such as palpitations, tremors, or rapid heartbeat in patients with overactive thyroid disorders.

• Gastrointestinal Disorders: Guaifenesin may occasionally cause mild stomach irritation; patients with a history of gastritis or peptic ulcer disease should use it cautiously.

• Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease: Salbutamol may increase heart rate and occasionally affect blood pressure; therefore, this medicine should be used with caution in patients with hypertension, angina, arrhythmias, or other heart conditions.

• Seizure Disorders (Epilepsy): Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures, as Salbutamol may rarely increase nervous system excitability, particularly at high doses or with overuse.

Always follow the prescribed dose. Taking more than the recommended dose may increase the risk of side effects such as palpitations, fast heartbeat, tremors, nervousness, headache, or stomach discomfort. Excessive use of Salbutamol may also, in severe cases, rarely cause dizziness, low potassium levels, or an irregular heartbeat. If an overdose is suspected, seek medical attention promptly, especially if symptoms become severe or persistent.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember, unless it is almost time for your next scheduled dose. If it is close to the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose, as this may increase the risk of side effects such as palpitations, tremors, nervousness, or an increased heart rate. Irregular use may reduce symptom relief and mucus clearance.
