You have been prescribed Avistep 2mg/100mg Capsule for the treatment of diarrhea caused by bacteria or parasites. Diarrhea can cause water loss and electrolyte imbalance. Drink plenty of fluids especially ORS (oral rehydration solution) to help keep you hydrated. Do not use Avistep 2mg/100mg Capsule if you have blood in your stool or if you are severely constipated. Stick to simple meals and avoid spicy rich food in order to avoid feeling sick (nausea). It is best to avoid drinking alcohol while taking and till 4 days after taking this medication. This is because drinking alcohol with Avistep 2mg/100mg Capsule is likely to make you feel very sick (nauseated) and cause other unpleasant effects, such as hot flushes, headaches. Avoid taking fermented foods like cheese, or fermented meat, fish, etc. in excess while taking Avistep 2mg/100mg Capsule as it may cause some side effects. Consult your doctor if your diarrhea last for more than 48 hours.
