It works by stopping the growth of the bacteria causing the infection. This medicine is given by a doctor or a nurse and should not be self-administered. It usually makes you feel better quite quickly. You must continue the treatment as prescribed even when you feel better, to make sure that all bacteria are killed and do not become resistant.
