How Cefolip SB Injection works Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection is a combination of two medicines: Cefixime and Sulbactam. Cefixime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria in the human body. Sulbactam is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which blocks the action of enzymes produced by bacteria to inactivate Cefixime. Addition of Sulbactam reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefixime against bacteria.
Alcohol
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection as it is deemed unsafe.
Pregnancy
Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection is generally considered safe to use during pregnancy. Animal studies have shown low or no adverse effects to the developing baby; however, there are limited human studies.
Breast feeding
Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection is safe to use during breastfeeding. Human studies suggest that the drug does not pass into the breastmilk in a significant amount and is not harmful to the baby.
Driving
It is not known whether Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection alters the ability to drive. Do not drive if you experience any symptoms that affect your ability to concentrate and react.
Kidney
Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with kidney disease. Dose adjustment of Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.
Liver
Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection should be used with caution in patients with liver disease. Dose adjustment of Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection may be needed. Doctor consultation is advised.
If a dose of Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
You have been prescribed this combination medicine to treat bacterial infections even if they have developed resistance.� Finish the prescribed course, even if you start to feel better. Stopping it early may make the infection come back and harder to treat. Diarrhea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics along with Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection may help. Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps. Take it with food and plenty of fluids to avoid an upset stomach. Stop taking Cefolip SB 1000mg/500mg Injection and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
