Ebaway P Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat symptoms associated with the common cold, allergies, and upper respiratory congestion. It contains ebastine, a long-acting antihistamine, and phenylephrine, a decongestant. This medicine works by blocking the body's allergic response to relieve symptoms like sneezing, a runny nose, and watery eyes, while simultaneously shrinking blood vessels in the nasal passages to ease congestion and sinus pressure.

Ebaway P Tablet is indicated for the symptomatic relief of allergic rhinitis (both seasonal and perennial) and nasal congestion caused by the common cold or environmental allergens.

This combination provides a dual approach to managing upper respiratory discomfort:

• Ebastine is a second-generation, long-acting histamine H1-receptor antagonist. After administration, it undergoes extensive metabolism to its active metabolite, carebastine. It binds selectively to peripheral H1 receptors, preventing histamine from triggering localized inflammation, fluid drainage, sneezing, and itching. Because it does not readily cross the blood-brain barrier at recommended doses, it has a low potential for causing sedation.

• Phenylephrine is a potent decongestant and a selective alpha-1 adrenergic receptor agonist. It acts directly on the alpha-adrenergic receptors present on the smooth muscle of the vascular system. By causing vasoconstriction (narrowing) of the dilated arterioles within the nasal mucosa, it reduces blood flow to the swollen tissues. This action successfully relieves physical nasal stuffiness and promotes better sinus drainage.

Together, these medicines help improve breathing and reduce discomfort caused by allergic reactions and nasal congestion. Take Ebaway P Tablet exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger amounts or for longer than recommended. Use the lowest dose that is effective in treating your condition.

• Take this medicine with a full glass of water.

• This medication can be taken with or without food. If it upsets your stomach, take it with food or milk.

• Swallow the tablet whole. Do not crush, chew, or break it.

• Avoid taking this medication close to bedtime if you experience restlessness or insomnia.

This combination medication works through two distinct mechanisms:

• Ebastine selectively inhibits peripheral histamine H1 receptors, blocking histamine from causing symptoms like sneezing, itching, and fluid discharge.

• Phenylephrine stimulates alpha-1 adrenergic receptors on respiratory tract vascular smooth muscle, causing vasoconstriction. This reduces the swelling and fluid congestion in the nasal passages.

• To prevent accidental overdose or adverse reactions, do not take other over-the-counter cold, flu, allergy, or sinus medications without consulting your doctor or pharmacist, as they may contain overlapping ingredients.

• If you have a history of high blood pressure or heart disease, monitor your blood pressure carefully while taking this medication.

• This medicine is usually prescribed for short-term symptom relief. Do not take it for longer than your doctor recommends.

Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Keep out of reach of children

• Alcohol: May increase dizziness and impair mental alertness in sensitive individuals.

• Food: Food does not significantly affect the absorption of these drugs, though taking it with a meal can reduce chances of gastric irritation.

Tell your doctor about all your current medicines and any you start or stop using, especially:

• MAO inhibitors taken within the last 14 days (such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline)

This medicine should be used with caution, or avoided, if you have:

• High blood pressure (hypertension)

• Heart or coronary artery disease

• Hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid)

• Diabetes mellitus

• Glaucoma

• Enlarged prostate or difficulty urinating

Your dose will be determined by your doctor based on your age, liver function, and response to treatment. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.

Always follow your doctor’s instructions for the correct dose and duration of use.

Seek emergency medical attention or call your doctor right away if an overdose is suspected.

Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, drowsiness, restlessness, fast or irregular heartbeat, increased blood pressure, or difficulty breathing. In some cases, excessive use of phenylephrine may cause marked nervousness, headache, or chest discomfort.

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
