It treats the infection and prevents further infections by acting against the microorganisms. It also dilutes the thick mucus (phlegm) for easy cough out.Eltocin BR 250mg/2mg Tablet is a prescription medicine and it is to be taken it as suggested by the doctor. It can be taken with or without food, but it must be taken at a fixed time to ensure better efficacy. Do not consume more than the recommended dose, as this may have harmful effects on your body. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. The course of the treatment must be completed even if you feel better. How Eltocin BR Tablet works Eltocin BR 250mg/2mg Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Erythromycin and Bromhexine which treat respiratory tract infection associated with excessive mucus (phlegm). Erythromycin is a macrolide antibiotic. It stops bacterial growth by inhibiting synthesis of essential proteins which are required by bacteria to carry out vital functions. Bromhexine is a mucolytic which thins and loosens mucus (phlegm), making it easier to cough out. Addition of Bromhexine enhances the antibacterial effect of Erythromycin.
