It is primarily used in burn care and wound management where there is a risk of bacterial contamination or infection.

Chlorhexidine gluconate is an antiseptic that helps reduce the number of microorganisms on the skin and wound surface. Silver sulfadiazine is a topical antimicrobial agent that releases silver ions, which help inhibit the growth of a broad range of bacteria and some fungi commonly associated with wound infections.

Silvorest Cream is applied directly to the affected area after wound cleaning. The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the wound or burn. It should be used under medical supervision, especially in cases of extensive burns, large wounds, or when ongoing wound assessment and dressing care are required.

• Clean and debride the burn wound as instructed by your doctor before application.

• Apply Silvorest Cream using a sterile gloved hand or a sterile applicator.

• Spread the cream evenly over the affected area to a thickness of approximately 1.5mm (1/16th of an inch).

• The wound may be left uncovered or covered with a sterile gauze dressing as per your doctor's preference.

• Reapply the cream once or twice daily, or whenever it has been washed or rubbed off by movement.

• Continue treatment until the wound has healed satisfactorily.

Silvorest Cream works through a multi-targeted antimicrobial approach. Silver Sulfadiazine acts on the cell membrane and cell wall of the microorganism. Once applied, it slowly releases silver ions, which bind to the bacterial DNA, inhibiting the growth and replication of the bacteria without harming the patient's healthy tissue cells.

Chlorhexidine Gluconate complements this by carrying a strong positive charge that binds to the negatively charged surface of microbial cells. This causes the cell membrane to leak and eventually rupture, resulting in rapid cell death. Together, these ingredients ensure that the wound remains free of a broad range of pathogens, including those that are often resistant to other antibiotics.

• Always use a sterile technique when applying the cream to prevent introducing new bacteria to the wound.

• Keep the wound covered with the cream at all times; if the cream is rubbed off on bed linens or clothing, reapply it immediately.

• Do not be alarmed if the cream or the treated skin turns dark; this is a normal reaction of silver to light and air.

• Drink plenty of fluids during treatment, as sulfa-based medications require good hydration for safe processing by the body.

• If you have a known G6PD deficiency, inform your doctor, as sulfa drugs can occasionally cause blood-related issues in these patients.

• Store Silvorest Cream at room temperature, away from excessive heat and moisture.

• Keep the container tightly closed when not in use to prevent contamination.

• Protect the cream from direct light to avoid premature darkening of the product.

• Keep out of the reach of children and pets.

• Food (Safe): There are no known interactions between this topical cream and food.

• Alcohol (Safe): No direct interaction, though overall health is best maintained by limiting alcohol during recovery from burns.

• Topical Proteolytic Enzymes (Unsafe): Silver may inactivate enzymatic debriding agents like collagenase if used at the same time.

• Cimetidine (Caution): May increase the risk of a drop in white blood cell counts when used with silver sulfadiazine.

• Sulfa Allergy (Unsafe): This medication contains a sulfonamide and can cause severe reactions in allergic individuals.

• G6PD Deficiency (Caution): May increase the risk of hemolytic anemia (destruction of red blood cells).

• Extensive Burns (Caution): If used on very large areas, the medicine can be absorbed into the blood, requiring monitoring of blood counts.

If you forget to apply a dose of Silvorest Cream, apply it as soon as you remember. If the wound has been left unprotected for a long period, clean the area before reapplying. Do not apply a double layer of cream to make up for a missed application.
